Leslie Grundy

Leslie Grundy

Leslie Grundy was born and raised in Flint, MI. Growing up in a single parent household during one of the most economically depressed times in the country, she has seen Flint drastically shift from a thriving economy, to a deteriorating city. She has experienced how outsourcing has negatively impacted urban families.

Leslie attended Northwood University, receiving her Bachelor’s degree in International Business with a concentration in Marketing and a minor in Spanish. Her driving passion is to be a catalyst for positive change and sustainable development among communities comprised of ethnic minorities.

She has been privileged with the opportunity to volunteer by teaching children in urban communities, working with Detroit public schools to create programs for underprivileged children. Ms. Grundy has taught abroad in Japan, Germany, and the Florida Keys with Camp Adventure. She supports and partners with many agencies aimed toward empowering the children of Flint.

Leslie desires to use her experience and education toward rebuilding communities in Flint. Her passion is to make Flint a great place to raise a family and help revitalize the culture.

She hope to some day open a youth center for children. It would offer quality educational programs, foreign language classes, practical life skills training, and workshops to assist with college enrollment. Above all, she wants to help children walk into their purpose and realize their highest potential.

With the Urban Initiative, she will be able to fulfill her dream right in her hometown. Leslie is ready to embark upon a rewarding journey that will promote lasting change for our future.
